Granatium has been inspiring people for over 16 years!
Since 2008, the Granatium in Radenthein has been delighting explorers of all ages. It’s a highlight for children and anyone interested in geology! In 2010, the Granatium welcomed its 100,000th visitor.

The museum
The exhibition takes you on an exciting journey into the world of garnet. You will experience the history of this fascinating stone up close!
The tunnel
Now things get really adventurous… The 300-meter-long tunnel takes you into the subterranean home of the gemstone. Discover a crystal-clear lake and impressive veins of pyrite and garnet – a real adventure!
The mining area
The mining area is the highlight of the Granatium. Here, everything you have heard and seen before comes to life – with the right tools, you can even uncover gemstones from the rock!
The garnet room
In the Garnet Room, you’ll find a room whose walls are covered with wafer-thin garnet slabs. Feel the energy of the garnet gemstone, a symbol of love and passion: light and music play with your emotions, and the red color and beauty of the mineral touch the senses.
